London Tigers Move from Kingsbury

The End of football at Silver Jubilee Park ?

The London Tigers have decided to quit Kingsbury's Silver Jubilee Ground, and will be playing in Greenford at the Viking Sports ground.

There have been rumours that Brent councilI intend to close Silver Jubilee Park, the site of football in Kingsbury since 1919, however QPR will field their ladies first team and reserves there for the fortcoming season.

London Tigers merged with Kingsbury Town in 2006/07, and the club had seen s steady progress made in the SSMFL in recent seasons.

Quite what the long term plans for the ground are remains unclear, could Kingsbury Town FC reform? could Silver Jubilee park provide another non league club with a home to call thier own?

I guess it's a case of 'Watch this space'

Eighth Place Finnish For Tigers

Kingsbury London Tigers finnished the 2009/10 SSMFL Premier Division season in a respectable 8th place.

Having come three places higher the previous season it was a little dissapointing, but nonetheless the Tigers enjoyed some good results and will be looking to strive forward come August.

The reason has been due to ill health I have been unable to attend matches and therefore write reports of the games.

A well drilled Harefield United side and an inept referee condemned Kingsbury London Tigers to a third successive league defeat, losing by 3-0 at Silver Jubilee Park last night.

Referee Mr Mark Sage saw fit to send two men off for the Tigers and remove the Tigers manager to the stands in a match that barely reached boiling point.

Both Abdullah Hassan and Kye Mendrix were shown highly debatable red card's having been booked earlier.

The removal's meant an uphill task for the Tigers against a strong Harefield side and the Tigers done well to create a few chances for themselves, however Harefield were much more clinical in front of goal and the scoreline reflected that.

The Tigers are left to lick their wounds and drop to 18th in the table, as they prepare for their FA Vase 1st round round tie at fellow SSMFL side Biggleswade United on Saturday.

A 76th minute penalty proved enough to separate the two teams this afternoon as Kingsbury London Tigers went down to a 1-0 defeat at Hertford Town.

Tigers Custodian Axinte Valentin had to leave the field in the second half due to an injury and was replaced by Paulo Meron.

It would prove to be a turning point as not long after taking the field, the replacement keeper was lucky not to see red after needlessly bringing down 'Blues' Ryan Redford for a penalty that Daryl Mitchell sent past Meron, for what would prove to be the only goal of the afternoon.

Goalscorer Mitchell was shown a second yellow and Hertford saw out the final five minutes with ten men.

The Tigers are at home to Harefield United on Tuesday night and both teams will be eager to climb the table with the Tigers in 15th place and Harefield in 18th.

Local bragging right went to the hosts Kentish Town as Kingsbury London Tigers disappointingly lost this local derby 3-2 at Copthall Stadium onTuesday night.

Renars Zarchenko and Edson Cata were on target for the Tigers, the defeat leaves the Tigers in 13th position from 6 games played.

This afternoon's FA Vase tie at Silver Jubilee Park produced a nine goal thriller as the Kingsbury London Tigers KO'd Essex senior side Takeley, despite playing for 60 minutes with 10 men.

The Essex side playing their first ever FA Vase match wasted no time in scoring their debut goal in the competition, James Amott 11th minute strike from close range giving the visitors the lead.

The Tigers found it hard to get to grips with a well organised Takeley side, and had to wait untill the 33rd minute to draw level, Rehia Osagie angled shot from the right beating James Mai, it has to be said somewhat against the run of play.

The scores remained level at the interval, with little sign of the goal fest that was to come later in the match.

The Tigers started the second half a lot brighter and attacked with renewed vigour, Edson Cata and Renars Zarchenko a constant danger for the visitors.

The Tigers took the lead on 52 minutes, Osagie netting his brace with a deft header from a pinpoint cross from the left.

The match swung from end to end, and drama was to follow in the 63rd minute, Tigers defender, Blader Vata handled the ball on it's way past Siki Kambila in the home goal, referee Mr Engelbreston had no option but to show Vata the red card and award Takeley a spot kick which Michael Kennedy tucked away for 2-2.

The numerical disadvantage for the Tigers did not appear to hinder them and they pushed forward looking for a winner and came close when a shot crashed against the post late on.

With eight minutes remaining, latvian striker Zarchenko displayed a real moment of class, he won the ball just outside the box, turned his man and then finished with a low shot to the far post, a stunning piece of skill worthy of winning any match.

The Tigers lead lasted all of four minutes as naive defending saw the Tigers give away a free kick with just four minutes left on the clock, Chris Groves sending his sublime dead ball shot past Kambila to restore parity and send the match into extra time.

Deep into time added on at the end of the first period of extra time, Zarchenko went in where it hurts, sending the ball into the net with a brave header to restore the Tigers lead, not that he would have known much about the goal as he lay prostrate on the ground instead of celebrating.

Takeley had seemingly secured a replay when Ryan Williams brought the scores level at 4-4 with ten minutes to play, but the Tigers continued to create chances and looked more then capable of scoring again, though time was against them.

With nothing to separate the two sides all afternoon, it was perhaps fitting that a penalty would decide the outcome, and with just two minutes from a replay, Zarchenko won the ball inside the box, a neat flick found Cata who was about to pull the trigger but was felled much to the dismay of the Takeley players who had no qualms about the penalty.

The ball was dispatched by Zarchenko for his hat trick and this time there was no coming back for the visitors as ten men Tigers held on for a thrilling victory and one that sends them into the 1st round proper tie with fellow SSMFL side Biggleswade United.

A return to winning ways for Kingsbury London Tigers as they advance to the 2nd round of the SSMFL Premier Cup, with a 2-1 victory at Langford last night.

Despite arriving late due to traffic problems, the Tigers wasted no time in taking the lead, the windy conditions assisting Paulius Olisausakas 25 yard free kick to sail past Walter in the home goal.

The Tigers went further ahead on 22 minutes, Olisausakas again involved, as he swung a cross in from the byline which was met at the far post by Rehia Osagi, doubling the Tigers advantage.

Langford pulled a goal back on the hour mark, Dellasalle with a far post header, and despite a dertermined Langford pushing for an equaliser, the Tigers rearguard stood firm and held on for the win.

The reward is a round 2 tie at home to Harigney Borough on Tuesday 27th October.

The Tigers remain in cup mode as they prepare for their FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Rnd tie at home to Essex Senior side Takeley on Saturday 19th September KO 3.00.

Despite the unflattering score line, Kingsbury London Tigers will take plenty of positives from their brief but entertaining run in the FA Cup this season.

There was no doubt that class told as Bedford Town who play two levels above the Tigers in the Southern Premier league ran out comprehensive winners this afternoon at the New Eyrie.

The early exchanges saw both sides play some open attacking football, both teams passing the ball well and Tigers looking anything but undaunted.

The match was turned on its head with three goals in a ten minute period, on 12 minutes Craig Daniel noted Tigers custodian Axinte Valentin was off his line and sent a loopping shot into the net from all of 40 yards out which stunned the visitors, not least Valentin!

Within a minute the Tigers found themselves two goals down, having given away a penalty, which Tony Battersby sent past Valentin who dived the wrong way, the Tigers were stunned and were sensing this would be a long afternoon in the Bedfordshire sunshine.

Worse was to follow for the Tigers on 21 minutes when Valentin was punished for not catching the ball from a corner from the right, Battersby on hand to score with a volley from close range.

There was a glimmer of hope for the Tigers moments before the beak, Tigers Angolan striker Edson Cata found the net from close range to give the score line a more respectable look at the interval.

Sadly for the visitors the second half continued in much the same fashion as the first with the Eagles in commanding form

It took Bedford just 4 minutes of the second period to restore their three goal advantage when Farhad Anvari was penalised for hand ball and a second penalty was dispatched by Battersby to seal his hat trick.

It was a case of damage limitation for the Tigers, after Ian Draycott made it five on 57 minutes for the hosts finding the net from close range.

The ball was in the back of the net for a sixth time but was ruled out by the officials, The Tigers saw out the remaining half an hour with no further goals being scored and bowed out of the FA Cup with their pride slightly dented but lessons learned and experience gained.

The Upcoming matches will see, Kingsbury London Tigers continue to concentrate on Knock out cup football as league matters are put to one side.

Having beaten Harlow Town after a replay in the FA Cup, The Tigers KO'd Hatfield Town from the FA Vase last weekend, only to be dumped out the SSMFL Challenge Trophy by Broxbourne last night.

The Tigers will look for further cup success when they travel to Southern League Premier Division Bedford Town for what will be the Tigers first ever FA Cup 1st Qualifying round tie on Saturday.

This will be followed by a SSMFL Premier Division cup tie at Langford on Tuesday 15th September, and then a 2nd qualiyfying round FA Vase tie at home to Takely on Saturday September 19th.

The next SSMFL league match is due to be played on Wednesday 23rd September when the Tigers make the short trip to Copthall Stadium in Hendon to face Kentish Town, dependent on FA Vase replays!!

Having disposed of Harlow Town from the FA Cup on Tuesday night, Kingsbury London Tigers continued their excellent form in FA Competitions this week with a thrilling 4-3 extra time victory over fellow SSML Premier club, Hatfield Town, in today's Vase tie.

A Steven Roleio-Doe brace had given the Tigers a two goals advtange, but the hosts fought back, first though Martin Stranden, and then an 89th minute equaliser from Daniel Staples which took the match into extra time.

Edson Cata quickly restored the the Tigers lead in the first period of extra time, but back came Hatfield, who thought they had secured a replay when John Mc Grandles brought the scores level with just two minutes remaining.

There was however, still time for more drama, as Angolan international Cata picked up the ball which had seemingly gone out of play and drilled home a last gasp winner to send the Tigers into the 2nd Qualifying round and end a pulstating tie.

The Tigers reward is a home tie with Essex senior league side, Takely on September 19th.

Edson Cata was the Tigers hero as Kingsbury London Tigers caused a minor upset this evening knocking Ryman 1 North side Harlow Town out of the FA Cup.

In a feisty Preliminary round replay, both teams were forced to see out the latter stages of the second half with 10 men.

The Tigers broke the deadlock 5 minutes before the break, Renars Zarchenko finishing well from close range, however just moments later, Harlow had a penalty after referee Mr Mackay, adjudged a push had taken place in the box, Tigers keeper Axinte Valentin guessed right saving Gavin Taylor's spot kick and the Tigers led at the break.

In the latter stages of the second half there was controversy as London Tigers were reduced to 10 men on 60 minutes, Marcus Lansiquot taking an early bath for a second bookable offence.

Harlow seized the advantage and three minutes later Darryl Doolan levelled the scores and Harlow appeared to have the upper hand in the closing stages.

However, Further controversy followed with a quarter of an hour remaining when Harlow's Daniel Green was shown a second yellow card which left both sides with a man disadvantage.

With the match seemingly heading for extra time, Edson Cata received the ball on the edge of the box and he found the net from an acute angle to seal the Tigers victory and book a place in the next round.

The Tigers were a credit to the Spartan South Midlands League and their reward is a 1st qualifying round tie away to Southern Premier side Bedford Town, a daunting task, but one that the Tigers will relish on September 12th.

The London Tigers kept pace with the early leaders in the SSML Premier Division by recording a second successive home league victory, beating Colney Heath by a one goal margin at Silver Jubilee Park this afternoon.

Tarik Ellekhlifi was the Tigers match winner, calmly slotting home from the penalty spot early in the second period after a 'Magpies' defender had brought down Edson Cata in the box.

The Tigers should have doubled their lead when an effort cannoned of the crossbar, but Henry Emenike skied the rebound from close range.
The visitors were denied an equaliser on a couple of occasions by the prowess of Siki Kambila in the home goal, the Tigers have yet to concede this season in 360 minutes of play!

The Tigers roared on by the home support were worth the 3pts despite the narrow margin of victory as they created the better chances and played a brand of football that was easy on the eye; though just lacking a cutting edge up front, the result keeps the Tigers in 4th spot in the SSML Premier Division.

Kingsbury visit Brimsdown Rovers in a SSML Premier clash on Wednesday night, and then travel to Canvey Island to take on Concord Rovers in the FA Cup Preliminary Round next Saturday.

Edson Cata wrote his name into London Tigers folklore, scoring the only goal of the match that sealed the Tigers first win in the most famous football competition in the world...The FA Cup!

Within the shadow of Wembley Stadium's arch, Silver Jubilee Park was bathed in sunshine for the Tigers debut in the Competition, watched by a bumper crowd of 108 which boosted by many 'ground hoppers' who took advantage of the Sunday noon kick off time.

Eton Manor of the Essex Senior League provided stiff opposition, and indeed had several good chances throughout the match but they lacked the finesse in front of goal and as the match progressed the Tigers settled into their rhythm playing a stylish brand of football.

The winning goal came early in the second period, Edson Cata getting on the end of a good cross from the right, with a fine finish that sent the home players and supporters into raptures of delight.

The Tigers had chances to double their lead but will be more then happy at seeing off a side who will no doubt be at the right end of the Essex Senior League come May.

Kingsbury London Tigers reward for today's victory is a trip to Ryman League Div 1 North side Concord Rangers.

Concord were promoted as Essex Senior League Champions last season so the Tigers face a stern test when they venture to Canvey Island where Concord are based.

The match is due to be played on Saturday 30th August.

The Tigers are next in action when the host Colney Heath in the Spartan South Midlands Premier League on Saturday 23rd August.

The Tigers of Kingsbury kicked off their home campaign in the SSML Premier Division with a two goal victory over neighbours Kentish Town at Silver Jubilee Park last night.

Kentish Town are based at Barnet Copthall Stadium in Hendon, so local bragging rights were at stake as well as 3pts.

The scoreline belies the fact that had the Tigers laced up their scoring boots before taking the sodden but perfect playing surface, they could have boosted their early season goal difference by a healthy margin.

On a night when the Kingsbury side played by far the more composed football they had to wait till the midway point of the first half before breaking the deadlock, Edson Cata calmly slotting the ball past Mc Daid in the visitors goal.

Tigers custodian Randos Nunes, was called upon to make a couple of saves, most notably from David Dawson, but was not unduly troubled throughout the 90 minutes as the Tigers defence kept a second clean sheet.

The home crowd witnessed some excellent build up play and passing movement by the Tigers, just the finnishing spoiled a solid performance.

It was left to Henry Eemenike to show how it should be done, finding the net from close range with a neat finish from the right.

The win takes the Tigers up to 4th spot in the table having played two matches of the season, following on from a 0-0 draw at Biggleswade United last Saturday.

Next up for the Tigers is the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, when they host Eton Manor of the Essex Senior League, On Sunday 17th August KO 12.00 Noon.

This will be an historic first time the London Tigers have entered the FA cup since their merger with Kingsbury Town in 2006.
